If you had two words to describe KWAYE it would be ‘effortlessly cool’. His music is electrifying – soulful, well-produced and funky as it comes, and the new video to ‘Sweetest Life’ brings this right home. Shot by Billy Boyd Cape, it follows KWAYE and his ridiculously impressive dance moves around Los Angeles in a sequence which pays homage to the solo dance pieces of Gene Kelly and Michael Jackson. Part of the huge appeal is that the whole package – moves, look, choreography and music – feels entirely authentic. And in a world where heavily stylised and staged videos are two-a-penny it’s a welcome relief to see a singer be their authentic, artistic selves.
